Read the stories of those who have been effected by homelessness. With the help and support of Midlands Simon Community, each of them are on the pathway out of homelessness and will continue to be supported by our staff and volunteers for as long as they need us.
Unfortunately homelessness is not just an urban phenomenon but a rural reality, as it affects those in the Midlands Counties of Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath. Although it may not be evident on the streets of your local town, people still have no place to call home and are sleeping in wheelie bins, cars and abandoned buildings. In 2021 Midlands Simon Community worke with 417 people, with the breakdown as follows:
- 22 people supported through our Housing with Support Service
- 202 cases supported by our Regional Support Service (Homelessness)
- 24 people supported by our two Emergency Accommodation Services
- 169 people supported by our Out of Hours Service
